The Difference in Storefront Window Signs

When it comes to storefront window signs, there are so many options that it can seem difficult to pick one. As an individual or business owner, which will achieve the right look and desired effect? Take a look at our handy guide to the many and varied types of storefront window signs to ensure that you make the right decision for your space.

Window Stickers

Choosing the right kind of window strorefront sign makes all the difference.

Window Stickers are exactly what they sound like. This one time use sticker cannot be repositioned, and are generally referred to as decals.

Window Decals

These involve material with an adhesive side, and can be stuck on both the interior and exterior of windows. When installing them there is wiggle room for repositioning, however not much. These come in three types.

Clear Window Decal

These are clear everywhere, except where your design or logo is emblazoned. These are ideal for storefronts and allow two-way visibility. These work best with strong contrasting colors.

Opaque Window Decal

These obscure two-way visibility, without limiting it entirely. Opaque white surrounds your design, rather than transparent material.

Perforated Window Decal

Perforated window decals allow one-way visibility. You will be able to see out of your windows, but others will not be able to see in. These are ideal for announcing and advertising your store hours, business logo, sales, events, and any deals.

Static Clings

Static clings have no adhesive side, but attach through the static charge of the sign itself. These signs are easily removed, adjusted, applied, and reapplied. These are often used for short term deals and announcements, such as flash sales in shops, or the soup of the day or daily specials in restaurants and cafes.

The Pros And Cons of Decals And Clings

Decals are stronger and make for far more lasting signs than static clings. However, clings are far more simple to install and infinitely more versatile and forgiving. Decals also may involve tricky removal, using soapy water and a razor blade, while clings simply peel away easily. Depending on what you will be using your window signs for, either can be an excellent storefront window sign choice for your business.
