Isn’t Window Tinting Just For Cars?

American Solar Tinting Window Tinting Cars

It’s a common belief that window tinting is really only for cars—but that assumption couldn’t be further from the truth!

Many people who have no personal experience with residential or commercial building window tinting assume that it is only for vehicles. All of us, at one time or another, have seen the cars that roll around with windows tinted so dark that you can’t see inside. We’ve all also heard the radio advertisements for shops offering to tint your car windows to make it easier to drive or keep the car cooler in the summer. That isn’t the only type of window tinting, however. In fact, it isn’t even the most popular type of window tinting. Tinting building windows, like those in your home or in a commercial building is overall the more common use for window tinting film. Let’s explore the differences between building window tinting and car window tinting.

Things To Know About Building Window Tinting

There are many different types of building window films and just as many or more reasons to use it. Most often, building windows are tinted to provide protection from the sun’s energy and/or to provide privacy. UV films can block the UV energy of the sun to help control cooling costs and protect the art and furniture inside the home (or goods inside the store) from the bleaching effect of the sun. window films can also provide increased safety and security by making windows harder to break through and controlling the spread of broken glass when they are broken. Finally, window films can be used for marketing and advertising or aesthetics when they are decorative. In almost any case, it is best to have these films professionally installed so that you get the longest possible use out of them.

Things To Know About Tinting Car Windows

Car window films are typically applied to the vehicle window surfaces for privacy or aesthetics. These films usually come in a variety of colors, often (but not always) with UV inhibitors. When they have UV inhibitors in the film, car window tints can provide the same type of protection as building window films. The films can help keep the interior fabrics and finishes from fading. The tint can also help keep your car cooler, so that you spend less cooling it in the heat of the summer. Finally, like with building windows, it is important for car tints to be professionally applied so that you know they are applied correctly and will last as long as possible.
