How Professionals Install Window Film

Window film is one of the simplest and most cost-effective ways you can reduce your energy bill, mitigate the impact of light damage, and cut down on glare in your home or business. Still, some people attempt to install window film on their own to save some extra cash. We urge against this, but only because it could end up costing you more money in the long run.

If you opt for professional installation of window film, you’ll reap the dividends in terms of the longevity and overall appearance of the film. Here’s how professionals install window film.

How Professionals Install Window Film

Installing window film on your own is risky business. Here’s how professionals do it.

If you choose to work with experienced window tinting professionals, you’ll be an advantage from the very start. Not all window films are created equal, and it can be tough for the layperson to narrow down the type that is best suited for their needs. At your window film consultation, we will choose the film that makes the most sense for you, and schedule a date for the installation.

Preparing the Work Area

In order for us to do our work, we’re going to need access to your windows. This means they need to be free from obstruction. But we understand that not all windows are on the ground floor. We may have to make use of ladders or temporarily remove them to install the film.

If the window isn’t properly cleaned prior to window film installation, it won’t properly cure. For this reason, many window film professionals go above and beyond what your average DIY-er will do by razor cleaning. This needs to be done carefully to prevent damage.

Still, many opt for scrubbing it clean. Once this is done, we sanitize the glass and dry it off with a lint-free towel.

At your consultation, we took measurements of your window and ordered film to pre-cut to a marginally bigger size. This is so that after applying the film, it can be trimmed to the precise size. We use a slip solution and apply it to the glass, then remove the liner to the film and carefully apply. Finally, we polish the film and ensure there are no defects.

If you opt to have professionals install window film, rest assured that it will work for your home or business every day for many years to come.
